Skyblocks Challenge

Skyblocks is the ultimate test of your Minecraft knowledge and skill. You will be challenged in multiple ways, in terms of problem solving, decision making, creative thinking, and your overall Minecraft knowledge. We have enabled “keep inventory” which is a command in Minecraft that will keep all the items you have collected, even if you have to respawn.

Make it to the Nether:

1. 1. Open the Minecraft World, Skyblocks Challenge in your respective version of Minecraft.
   2. Skyblocks tests your Minecraft skills in multiple different ways, from crafting to movement to problem-solving.
   3. Locate the chest on the island to start your tasks. In the end, you need to make it to the Nether.
   4. There are multiple chests containing Book & Quill’s along the way. Make sure you read them!
   5. Click the “View Map Overview” button below this text to see an aerial image of the layout of the Skyblocks World. This will assist you in traversing the World.
   6. The island you start on also has an easter egg island below it that has some materials to help you complete the World.

1. Once you have completed your first challenge, you can start exploring the other islands. All resources required for the Skyblocks World can be found within the World itself by visiting the other islands.
2. Your objective or goal is to reach the Nether in Minecraft. To do so, you to need to create a Nether Portal. The last island in the Skyblocks World has half a Nether Portal created for you already. You will need to find the rest of the Obsidian blocks to complete the Nether Portal.
3. To activate the Nether Portal, you will need to use Flint & Steel which requires the correct items to craft it. See the Book & Quill in the chest, located at the Nether Portal to learn more about crafting Flint & Steel and building the Nether Portal. Once you have crafted the Flint & Steel, you can activate the Nether Portal with the Flint & Steel in your hand.
4. As the world is in Survival Mode, you will also need to eat food. There is food found in one of the chests. You can also craft Mushroom Stew. The recipe for Mushroom Stew can be found in a chest on the mushroom island (see map overview).
5. There’s no point in switching into creative mode to complete this challenge, it has been setup to test your Minecraft skills. Cheating in this World will be disadvantageous for you in the end.
6. Once you have made it through the nether portal you have completed Task 1. Task 2 is optional.

1. 1. This is an optional task that you can complete if you choose to. Once you have made it through the Nether, switch your game-mode into Creative Mode.
   2. To do so please follow these steps:
   3. If you are using Java Edition, you need to go to your pause menu (while in the World), click on “Open to Lan”, then click on Allow Cheats: Enabled. Once that is completed you can input the command /gamemode creative @s
   4. If you are using Minecraft: Education Edition / Pocket Edition / Windows 10 Edition or Bedrock Edition, do the following: Go to your pause menu, click on settings, then set your Default Game Mode to: Creative and then set your Personal Game Mode to: Creative.
   5. If the creative mode still is not activated by completing the above, make sure to activate cheats as well and then input the command: /gamemode creative @s
   6. Once you are in creative mode build your Nether Village according to the instructions found under “Build Challenge Specifications”.
