Study the Solar System

Understanding the 8 observable planets:

1. 1. Open up the World – Our Solar System in your respective version of Minecraft.
   2. When you are in the World, you will be greeted by a wall of the 8 observable planets in our Solar System.
   3. Note the placement of these planets in relation to one another, the name of each of the planets and their individual colours.
   4. Once you have gained an understanding of the 8 planets, follow the path until you reach the building zone. Remember to stand on the golden pressure plates to activate night vision. This will help you see in darker environments.

Recreate the 8 planets:

1. Once you have familiarized yourself with the 8 planets, it’s time to start building them. Use the same order as the images to create your planets.
2. Do not worry about creating the planets to scale – that would take a long time!

These are the three main building aspects to keep in mind:

1. 1. a) The order of the planets is the same as the order of the reference images.
   2. b) The colour of the reference planets should somewhat match the planets that you build.
   3. c) Name each of the planets using a signboard.

Up for a challenge?

1. 1. Once you have completed all the planets and are happy with them, look on the internet and find images of a Mars Rover.
   2. Mars Rovers are usually little machines that scavenge Mars for information and send it back to Earth, so we can expand our understanding of life outside of planet Earth.
   3. Once you have a good reference image, use it to build a Mars Rover in Minecraft.
   4. If you can make your Mars Rover move (using Redstone or something along those lines), then bonus points to you!
